Fishing For Walleye on the Delaware River
Walleye fishing on the Delaware is for the skilled
angler. Generally fished for at night, these beautiful
fish are the gamiest fish that swim the river. Walleye
are found in the deep eddies and areas near deep water.
Fishing for them is best in the fall months but can
be caught year round. Fishing a few feet off the bottom
with jigheads armed with 3" Mister Twisters in
the summer months and live bait in the fall is the most
popular method. Location is key as with any sportfish
on the river. The deep waters of the Delaware Water
Gap are a popular area for fall walleye fishing. During
this time many large fish are taken.
