Smallmouth Bass fishing on the Delaware

Smallmouth bass are the most dominant
fish on the Delaware River. It's not unusual for anglers
to catch more than 20-30 per day. I prefer to fish the
weed beds near rocky structures in about 4-5 feet of
water. Other great places to find them are deep holes
near eddies, or at the end of a large pool. The largest
fish are in deeper water usually near or on some kind
of structure. For large fish, I fish in about 8-10 feet of
water on and around logs of structure with a black 3"
Mister Twister. In the summer months, top water fishing is
best. Small top water lures and plugs chugged around
the weed beds often result in success, I find.
