Fishing for Rock
Bass on the Delaware River
Rock bass are those red eyed fish
found schooling around structure. In the sunfish family,
this small species are a royal pain in the ass for smallmouth
fisherman. On the other hand, when nothing else is biting,
they can help break up a boring day. They are found
in the cleaner parts of the upper river. There are few
in the lower sections: Yardley, New Hope, Bulls Island
but around Delaware Water Gap they are abundant. Usually
found around a tree limb or some logs, these fish are
taken on any type of small lure.
